How to Use the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year in Your Home

A new year means a trendy, new Pantone color. Check out our suggestions on fun ways you can implement Viva Magenta in your home.

It’s a new year, and that means it’s time for a new Pantone Color of the Year. This year’s choice is Viva Magenta. Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute’s Executive Director, says of the color choice: “In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family, as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.”

Everyone wants to be on trend. So you’re probably asking yourself, how can I incorporate the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year into MY home? Well, we’ve got the answer. Check out our suggestions on ways to seamlessly incorporate Viva Magenta into your home in 2023.

Add Color to Your Kitchen with Cookware and Glassware

The kitchen is an excellent area of the home to add pops of color. And kitchen accessories are an easy way to do just that. Check out these beautiful magenta stemless wine glasses from West Elm.. These would definitely catch the eye of all your guests when displayed on your bar cart. You’ve probably seen the buzz online about the Always Pan from Our Place, and guess what? It comes in a berry pink color that would be perfect for keeping out on your stove. Plus, it’s designed to replace eight traditional pieces of cookware. So you can finally toss that stained and scratched-up frying pan. And if you love to bake, Great Jones has you covered with their magenta bakeware, including a baking sheet set, muffin tin, bread pan, and cake pan.

Dress Up Your Walls with Some New Artwork

Hanging a few pieces of new artwork is a practical way to incorporate Viva Magenta into your interior décor. All you need is a hammer, a few nails, and a bit of imagination. You can take the literal route with this Pantone color block print, available on Etsy. Or be a little more subtle with something like this floral 2-piece painting set from Wayfair or this mountain sunrise poster from Redbubble.

Accent Walls Are A Great Way to Add A Focal Point To A Space

If you have a bold style, you may want to paint an entire room in your home magenta. (And we think that would look great.) But for those who aren’t as daring, consider a magenta accent wall to give any room in your home a bit of personality. Feature walls create a focal point in a space and are a great way to add color, texture, or both. You can simply paint the wall a shade of magenta. If you are a wallpaper lover, there are some great options, like this magenta palm leaf print wallpaper from Wayfair or this striking cheetah peel-and-stick option from Home Depot.

Give A Tired Piece of Furniture A Bold Upcycle

Everyone has that old piece of furniture gathering dust in their basement that they’re unsure what to do with but aren’t quite ready to part with. Maybe it’s a side table you don’t know where to put, a bookshelf you used to store textbooks back in college, or a dresser your kids outgrew years ago. Why not dust it off, sand it down, and give it new life as an accent piece in your home with a coat of magenta paint? Capri pink chalk paint from Annie Sloan is a close match to Viva Magenta. You can also bring a swatch to your local Lowe’s or Home Depot. The staff at the paint counter can help you find a good match.

Spice Up Your Sofa with Throw Pillows and Blankets

If you still want to incorporate Viva Magenta in your home without picking up a hammer or a paintbrush, you can add sofa accents with throw pillows and blankets. Big Blanket Co has a great option that comes in a Cranberry color. Or, if you want a little bit of pattern, check out this pink plaid throw blanket from Room & Board. How great would a pair of these embroidered throw pillows from Anthropologie look on your sofa? Or what about these Moroccan-style wool pillows from Joss & Main?
